The Robots in Blue

Mesa, Arizona is getting some additional help to its police force, thanks to a grant from Homeland Security.  The additonal help is in the form of two robots.

The first policebot was constructed by Automatika/Foster-Miller, Inc. and is a tactical model, designed to help in an urban environment with bomb and device detection.

icorThe second policebot was constructed by ICOR Technology, Inc. and will be put in service by the city’s bomb team.  This unit will provide non-lethal weapon support.

It only makes sense that the very automated Iraq and Afghanistan wars would result in some of that automation coming home to help protect our city streets and putting robots in positions of security and authority of civilians.  All the better for them when the uprising begins.
